Description:
Spectacles of silver and glass with oval glass lenses with extensive solder repair, adjustable side arms with tear-shaped finials on the ends, and a pin-in-slot mechanism. The glasses are stamped "H.C. PORTER/ HARTFORD" in a rectangle on inside right temple, and stamped "11" on the outside of the frame near the temple. The glasses come in an oval tinned sheet iron case of a later period (1860-1870); the case is of the "Parker" type, the tinned sheet iron case is shaped like an elongated cigar with a hinge on the center rear. The case is lined in cream colored wool felt, and marked "PATENT" and a number on the center of the opening.
