Description:
Chinese export porcelain saucer with a round shallow bowl with gilt chamfered edge, decorated in black, blue, iron red, and gilding, which was brought to Trenton, New Jersey from Canton by Captain Edward Yard (1761-1839) circa 1790-1800. The center well has a shield with an iron red crown and eagle with gilt streamer in its beak over the gilt initials "EY." The top of the well has a blue and gilt garland of leaves and abstract flowers, with gold sunflowers with blue leaves, wavy blue band with gold dots, and twirled white and blue ribbon over the garland.
