Description: Chinese export porcelain handle decorated in the Famille rose palette of rose, turquoise, purple, blue, white, yellow, iron red, and green. Ladle bowl shapes were copied from silver designs and were manufactured in China from 1760 onward for the Western market. They were uUsually decorated with Western flowers as in this example, with its large Western flowering spray on the front and one small separate spray at each side; the back has similar small sprays. The inside of the ladle bowl has four flowering sprigs at each end. The ovoid tapering, shaped bowl has gilded scalloped edges and light fluting. Handle socket riveted (perhaps modern) to wooden "S" curving handle (probably replaced).
