English Staffordshire plate decorated with a transfer print of an oriental garden scene and with a scrolled cartouche on the back with the title "Sicilian" in script, all in shades of purple. According to Coysh and Henrywood, the maker is unknown of these series of romantic scenes that use rococo scrolls freely on bulding, among flowers, and in the borders. Some examples are known with an impressed seal mark with the wording, "Improved Stone China." The prior owner of the plate, Julia Snow, thought the plate to be from Enoch Wood's factory.
