Description:
Chinese export porcelain spoon tray with a fluted rim and petal molding ('artichoke' or 'lotus leaf' pattern) on the body, decorated in the Famille rose palette in black, iron red, greens, yellow, blue, pink, and gilding. Spoon trays were commonly used until about 1790, even though saucers were provided. The lobed-hexagonal shape of the spoon tray, also popular for tea stands, was indigenous to China.
