Description:
Chinese export porcelain cup decorated in iron red, blue, black with "C" shaped extended handle with moulded spine and traces of gilding. Center decoration of bowl has shield with gilt and iron red flower sprigs on an ermine background with gilt and blue draperies. Two birds perch on banderole above the shield. The two birds or doves are common symbols of marriage in early nineteenth century Chinese export porcelain made for the American market. They may be related to the Chinese symbol of fidelity in ... At the top outside rim blue band with gilt flowers. Inside lip abstract blue flowers. Same patterning as object # 63.115.
