Description: Chinese export porcelain small hexagonal spoon tray in blue, black, iron red, and gilding with slightly flared sides. Spoon trays were commonly used until about 1790, even though saucers were provided. The lobed-hexagonal shape of this spoon tray, also popular for tea stands, was indigenous to China. The center well has a faux ermine and blue and gilt draped shield with black rococo escutcheon with an iron red and gilt floral sprig, encircled with a blue and gilt floral chain. There is a blue and gilt band with stars over gilt scalloped line around the rim edge.
