Description:
Chinese export porcelain miniature round tea canister with cover, decorated in blue, peach, iron-red enamels and gilding. Front shield has "EG" on ermine ground below pair of doves in blue, black and gilt. Below, alternating spearhead and abstract flower chain in blue and gilt. Same decoration on reverse side. The overhanging shoulders are decorated with gilt flowers with red centers, blue wavy band with gold decoration on peach background. Blue moulded fruit with gilding on cover. This is a stock pattern. Pair of birds made popular in the United States to signify a happy marriage. May be related to the Chinese symbol of a pair of mandarin ducks that indicate marriage.
