Description:
Pair of Fulham stoneware wet drug jars with spouts, which date from the early 19th century according to London dealer Jonathan Horne. The upper section and spout of each jar is covered with a brown glaze; and the Georgian coat of arms (lion and unicorn) is molded on the opposite side of the spout. Stoneware, including pharmacy jars, was often decorated with an embossed Royal Coat of Arms, which could be picked out in red. The jars are supported on a flared foot with an incised line around the outer edge.
