Description:
Needlework done in wool and silk embroidery on linen, certainly based on one or more engravings of "Rebecca at the Well." This finely-wrought piece combines images and decoration in the 17th century "horror vacui" tradition. The use of three-dimensional stitches on the lamb is found on several other pieces in HD's collection.
