Description:
Chippendale side chair in mahogany with white pine triangular corner blocks. The scrolled crest rail has a carved shell in the center and fluted ears, over a pierced, carved, and scrolled back splat. The trapezoidal seat is covered over the seat rails with moss colored damask held with brass nails; over carved acanthus leaves on the knees of the front cabriole legs, which end in ball-and-claw feet with an eastern Massachusetts tendency of raked side claws - the side claws angling off to the rear, and flared, plain rear legs, which are chamfered above the block-and-turned, compressed stretchers.
