Description:
One of a pair of English delft circular plates with blue, purple and red decoration. The rim is decorated with sponged manganese, encircled by three blue bands. The center well has a form that can be described as a schematic oriental pavilion or futuristic pylon structure topped by a cross with a blue circle center over a red fence, with two sponged manganese trees and two red birds flying overhead. The well is encircled with a blue band. According to Jonathan Horne, 1/23/95, these plates are from Bristol.
