Description:
French (probably) delft mug with a strap handle decorated in blue, yellow, green, and purple. Mugs served all types of alcoholic beverages and were prone to rough use and breakage. Given the fragility of delftware, few mugs survive. The outside is decorated with a series of five yellow and green leaf sprigs connected with curved purple stems. The rim and molded base of the cylindrical, straight-sided mug is encircled by a broad blue and narrow purple bands the strap handle has a broad blue band along its length.
