Description: English pearlware oval cream pot with a handle and spout, with relief decoration and cobalt blue trim in the style of Castleford wares. This set was purchased by Mr. Morris from Susan B. Hawks (1883-1946), a Sheldon descendent who last owned the Sheldon House before it was bought by Henry N. Flynt (1893-1970) in 1946. She had an antiques business in the house where she sold many locally-obtained pieces, so the set could have been a family set or one purchased from a local family. The pot has a shaped lip edged in blue; an attached C-scroll handle with acanthus leaves in relief and edged in blue; and a flared rim and flat base edged in blue. The body is divided into three horizontal bands by thin blue lines: the narrow top row has abstracted scrolls and fleur-de-lis in relief; over a wide middle row of scrolling leaves, vines, and foliage in relief; over a narrow base row of vertical leaves in relief. There are two large acanthus leaves in relief outlined in blue around the handle and under the spout.
