Best known for his photographs of women, Boubat wandered the streets of Paris and traveled the world as a photojournalist. He is considered among the great humanist photographers, interested in portraying people in their social settings and their daily activities. With the simple scene represented here, Boubat comments on the alienation and loneliness possible even within the crowded city.
