Description:
statue of a woman framed by an archway; Well house of Schonbrunn Palace Grounds, originally built by court gardener Steckhoven; replaced in 1771 by a square pavilion designed by Isidor Canevale, court architect; open, semi-circular arches, back arch frames seated sculpture, fountain of Egeria, a Water Nymph (and consort of Numa Pompilius) above a shell basin; vase under right arm from which water flows into basin; left arm holds a cornucopia; arch decorated with sculpted sheaves of water reeds; kneeling bench in front of basin; to left, shelves holding glasses probably for visitors to drink form fountain; forest seen in distance through archway, behind statue
