The American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO) is a voluntary federation of sixty national and international labor unions, created in 1955 by the merger of two separate labor organizations. This commemorative print was commissioned in 1980 to celebrate the twenty-fifth anniversary of this event, as well as to provide a visual expression extolling the virtues and describing the history of the organized labor movement in the United States.
