Label Text:
Isaac was one of a dozen children born to his parents David and Elizabeth Stone Coffin. As an adult, he became a sea captain. Unlike those of his parents, this portrait is not done in the more expensive three-quarter length. It also shows a curious disjunction of the right shoulder and torso.
