Label Text: In May of 1882 Thomas Moran went to England and Scotland with his wife Mollie. They hiked through the Highlands of southwestern Scotland and stopped to sketch the Pass of Glencoe, the site of the famous massacre of thirty-nine members of the MacDonald family in 1692 during the Jacobite uprisings. The date of 1882 is verified by Thurman Wilkins, "Thomas Moran: Artist of the Mountains". A related print is in the National Gallery of Art titled, "Bridge in the Pass of Glencoe, Scotland", 1882. accession number 2002.98.163
