Description:
Virtual description: The black and white lithograph portrays two figures on horseback through a rugged mountainous landscape. The rider in the foreground appears to be a woman sitting on a carpet saddle, draped in a flowing robe with her head covered. Beside her rides a man, donning a dark jacket and a hat, looking toward the viewer and gesturing to the distance with his left hand. Both horses are in mid-stride, suggesting movement through the terrain. The background features a dramatic mountain scene with rocky outcrops and a high peak in the distance. In the lower right corner are the artist's signature, A. Orlowski, and a date, 1819. Below the image frame is an inscription, "Imprimé à St. Petérsbourg chez Beggrow". (Tomasz Andrzej Grzybowski, 2024)
