Label Text: 2013 Curatorial Fellowship Exhibition: Shaping the View Joel Meyerowitz is another artist in this exhibit who challenges traditional viewpoints by finding beauty in the unexpected. When recalling his photography stint in St. Louis, Meyerowitz acknowledged the fact that the photograph has to have a space that allows one to enter. While the background of Meyerowitz’s photograph The Arch (1981) shows a partial view of Eero Saarinen’s gateway arch in St. Louis, the more captivating part of the photograph lies in the arch’s reflection in a puddle on the road. Claire D’Amato and Sarah Horowitz
