Description:
This ankle cuff, which matches the subsequent cuff, is made from thin wool yarn woven onto a wide piece of leather or buckskin. The yarn is red, black, gray, white, and green. Likely dyed with brightly colored aniline dyes, the cuff is woven in a geometric patten. Small ties are present on either side and are painted red. These would be used to tie the ankle cuff around one's leg or shoe, as a means of decoration. AP2018
