Description: Miramar Castle, Trieste, Italy; built in 1856 for Maximillian, Archduke of Austria (House of Hapsburg; Younger brother of Archduke Franz Joesph of Austria) and wife Charlotte of Belgium during tenure as governor general of Lombardo-Venetia; left Trieste to accept Crown of Mexico in 1864, failed and was sentenced to death by Mexican Firing Squad, carried out in 1867; Castle and Garden design by Carl Junker; extensive cliff, seashore park, 22 hectares (54 acres), tropical trees, plants; Miramare Park overlooks Adriatic Sea, Grignano, Gulf of Trieste; Gardener Anton Jelinek (Bohemian); ligneous forest--trees and bushes; Castle furnished and decorated by Franz Hofmann, Julius Hofmann;
