Description: A heavy iron spring bear trap, presented by Burlingham Schurr, Dec. 16, 1933, and reported by him to have come from the grandfather of Charles Thayer of South Amherst, who in turn received it from an old trapper who made the trap himself and used it in taking black bear on the Mount Holyoke Range. It has an indistinct number stamped on one spring, which, with the general appearance, indicates that it was factory, and not hand, made. Spread: 7"
