Description: German Mauser rifle of the World War period. .31 cal round steel barrel, nearly full length black walnut stock, cracked under the receiver and split at the butt. Elevation rear sight marked from 4 to 20. Bayonet missing. Marked GEW 98 (Gewehr 1898) on the side of the receiver, SPANDAU 1914 at the top, with proof marks and 9382 on both barrel and receiver. This gun was the infantry arm of the German army from 1898 through the World War. Weight: 8 3/4 lbs
