SKINNER CATALOGUE: A pottery inkwell with bright orange glaze, in the form of a hollow man's head, face up, with a hole in the forehead to hold the pen and the mouth open to reach the ink. Said by Wm. H. Plummer & Co., New York City, from whom it was bought, to be a piece of Ridgway (Shelton, Staffordshire) period 1820. Not marked. Length 3 1/8 inches. Width 2 3/4 inches. Height 2 inches. Cat. 1/4/1936.
