Description:
Although sausage has a long history, it was only with the shift to cities, and the necessity of producing food in larger quantities, that this utensil came into wide use. Meat was a ground and mixed with salt and spices not only to enhance the flavor, but to preserve the meat. Pressing meat into casings could be time consuming and messy if done by hand or with the aid of simple funnel.
