Label Text: SKINNER CATALOGUE: Chair. An 18th century "Central" bannister back side chair. Posts and back maple, stretchers hickory. Very strongly scalloped top rail, straight bottom rail. Three split balusters, with strong ovoid turning near bottom, ring and vase turning near top, nearly matching turnings on back posts. Back posts plain below the rail, double spheroidal finials. Front posts strongly ball and vase turned tenoned into the flat maple front seat stretcher. Side seat stretchers flat, back round. Two front stretchers strongly triple ball turned in the middle, vase turne at the ends, and both show much wear. Two side and single back stretchers plain. Flat reed seat, plain 1/1 weave, with double warp runners placed around 5/8 inch apart. Height: back 41 3/4" seat 16 1/2" Diam. posts 1 3/4" Cat. 8/20/1936.
