Label Text: SKINNER CATALOGUE: Wash Stand. A mid 19th century bedroom wash stand in pine, stained cherry and varnished. Four posts, ring and long vase turned, square at the joints. Drawer below, dovetail construction, 14" x 13 1/4" x 2 1/2". Top has edge boards at the back and sides, sloping to the front, and a 10 inch hole cut out, into which to set the basin. These stands were common bedroom furnishings in 19th century American homes, and with their stoneware basins and water pitchers were used both for face and hand washing and for baths.
