Label Text: SKINNER CATALOGUE: An early (probably 18th century) cord trundle bed - in England called truckle bed - in pine. 18 3/4" x 3 1/2" x 2 1/2" square foot posts, 14 3/8" x 2 1/2" x 2 1/2" square head posts, 3" x 2 1/2" square side, head, and foot rails. 5/8 inch side boards, 3/4 inch foot board, no head board. Strip leather tired round wooden wheels operating on wooden pegs for castors. Perfectly plain with no ornamentation. Bed 54" x 41 1/2" inside Trundle beds were used for the children to sleep on, being pulled out at night and rolled in under the parents' bed in the day time to be out of the way. Some rolled in at the end, as this one does, and some at the side. Cat 3/27/1936
