Description: From original file: Black and white twisted shell with carving set on semi-circular silver lid, lifts on a concealed five-lug hinge. Wide band of applied lip on lid and at juncture with shell. Hallmarks: lion passant; maker's mark "TP" and "ER." Comments: There is no way for this to sit flat on a surface, which is thus an indication of it being carried.
