Description:
Figural frieze in abstract style. The bowl's tall rim carries figural panels in which six figures sit, facing right, on high-backed latticed based chairs; each holds an oblong object in each hand. Checkerboard panels frame the figural zone above and below; the interior is painted solidly from just below the rim, which is marked by three bands. Above the handle zone a quatrefoil lozenge is set off from the main figural zone by a vertical crosshatched lozenge chain flanked by vertical lines and crosshatched columns. The reflex handles are decorated with a dotted lozenge chain. The bottom of the vase is unpainted and a dark band occurs just as the vase begins to swell upward.
