Description:
Black silk taffetta corselet/corselette, sometimes referred to as a basquine or fancy girdle, or Swiss belt or Swiss body. This item, which was worn on the outside of a woman's dress, would have been used to both decorate and define the waistline. The garment laces both center front and back and is stiffened with boning (probably baleen).
