Description: Woman's three piece gown consisting of two bodices and a skirt. The bodices can be worn together as part of a day ensemble. Removal of the high-necked, long-sleeve underbodice, however, can create a more formal evening outfit, revealing more of the wearer's skin, customary for women's evening wear. This kind of flexibility with matching bodices was used as early as the mid-19th century. Inside, the evening/outer bodice is heavily boned with steel in casings. An labeled petersham waistband secured the bodice securely to the wearer's corset.
