Description:
Rag rug made of brown rags over-sewn with green threads, and then embroidered with multi-colored threads to produce a cornapcopia with flowers, scrolls, and a floral and vine border in red, blue, green, and white. Acquired from Ginsburg & Levy, May 15, 1951. The rug may have started out as a runner or part of a larger carpet before being made into a hearth rug and sewn/embroidered with flowers and cornucopia. The rug is backed with a printed cotton that may be original to the time of the sewing/embroidery.
