Description: English Staffordshire figurine of a standing greyhound with a dead hare at its feet. Colored with enamels in light orange, green, purple, black, brown, and gilding. Standing on a cobalt colored oval base with band of gold, The hare - "a subtle, clever beast with a sweet scent "- had long been designated the quarry of country squires and was hunted by matched greynounds.
