Description:
One of a group of seven linen pillowcases. F.534.2A has the cross-stitched initials "EVH" and the number "2". Four have the initials "SAH"; one plain; and one plain example has no initials. Pillowcases and sheets were one of the most basic and prevalent kinds of textile used for beds. They could be embroidered with the intials or one or more people (probably the owner(s)). A corresponding number often seen with these intitials may indicate one of several sets owned.
