Description: Waistcoat decorated with polychrome silk embroidery on pale green silk done in a satin stitch around the collar, center front closing with 11 buttons, two highly-place, horizontal pockets, and bottom edge. This flat embroidery, which is aesthetically similar to the "tambour" technique, is not unllke the well-known and widely popular silk embroidery from China. The use of silver threads and silver sequins was primarily European in taste at this time. This is an example of a pre-embroidered waistcoat.
