Description:
Fragment of linen woven with polychrome brocaded wool wefts. These textiles were sometimes referred to as toile de Normandie, after the area of France that specialized in this kind of fabric. It also could have been produced in England. This kind of fabric was a less expensive alternative to silks with a brocaded design.
