Description:
Wholecloth, cotton quilt with a plain weave white, cotton ground onto which repeating, narrow blue floral strips (one with large florals sprays alternating with one with small floral motifs) are either printed or stencilled, and a faded, third color (possibly yellow) was applied to the center of each flower; edged on four sides with printed or stencilled cotton; a pieced, cotton and linen backing crewel embroidered in wool with scrolling floral sprays in blue, red, green and yellow (considerable embroidery loss) and pieced with off-white, plain weave cotton on three sides, one of which has monochromatic embroidery. The quilting is done in white thread in a four-lobed design using New England, stem or outline, chain, bouillon, and "---" stitches.
