Description:
Cotton sewing bag with a drawstring top with tassels, which is decorated with a embroidered band worsted wool oak leaves and acorns in red, yellow, green, and bornw around the four sides of the bag. The bag is filled with 16 wool sticks of thread or twists or 'thread sisters' - the way thread was sold for embroidery. The sticks in this bag vary in length from 7" to 7 1/2"; and in circumference from 3/8" to 5/8" with thread count going from 20 threads in 3/8" circumference, 40 threads in a 1/2" circumference, to 60 threads in a 5/8" circumference. Iona Lincoln estimated that the length of thread before twisting would be about 25".
