Description:
Man's morning coat of dark green or black and reddish-plaid wool. Single breasted, with three black (plastic?) buttons on proper right side, corresponding to worked button holes, proper left side. High, V-notched lapels and turned down collar, dropped shoulder seams. Welt breast pocket on proper left side.
The sleeves each have two seams. Sleeves are full, and have a 1 1/2" long slit on each cuff, that have been stitched up. The inside is lined with a glazed black cotton twill. Sleeves are lined in a striped sateen, off-white with powder blue.
The coat has a CB seam flanked on either side by a curved back side seam. These three seams end at a waist seam which extends all the wa around the jacket. There is also a side seam at either underarm area, as well as a dart on each side of front. Each dart is about 5" long, extending up from waistseam.
The front of the coat is cut striaght, but curves into the back skirts below the buttons. There are two 1/2" - 1" long darts below waist seam at back. The CB seam forms a vent; the curved back seams form pleats in the skirt. Labels on inside, near collar, read "Walter [illeg]/ Springfield" and (handwritten and possibly later) "CHARLES/ BARBER".
