Description: Two-tiered washstand covered with yellow paint. The upper section has a shelf with a basin hole, surrounded on three sides with a scrolled splash board. The lower section has a shelf with a drawer with a large wooden knob below, all supported by four turned legs with distinctive mushroom-shaped feet. The stand, which was owned by Charles Porter Phelps (1772-1852) of Hadley, Massachusetts, was found in a garret directly over the kitchen of the Phelps-Sessions House in October, 1988.
