Description:
Pair of silver rectangular shoe buckles with openwork scalloped borders, marked "E B" in relief in a serated rectangle. The maker has not been definitely identiifed. Suggestions include Ezekiel Burr (1765-1846) of Providence, RI.; Edward Boylston (1765-1836) who worked as a silversmith in Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in 1789, in Catskill, NY, in 1792, in Pompey, NY, in 1800, and in Manlius, NY, from 1804 to 1836; and an Ontario, Canada, silversmith working in the 19th century.
