Description: Sterling silver spoon with a spatulate handle with terminal scroll decoration, reeded stem and pointed oval bowl, which is marked "STERLING" and "-PAT. DEC.29.03" and engraved with the initials "MSH" on the handle. This is attributed to H.H. Curtis & Co. founded by Henry Holland Curtis (b.1859), which manufactured silver from c.1890-1915. Curtis filed for two patents for his designs in 1901 and 1905. This spoon appears to reflect the design described in the 1901 filing: "The leading or material features of my design consist in the marginal beading, combined with terminal scroll ornamentation."
