Description: Silver spoon marked "WW" with three stars attirbuted to William Ward, and engraved "SC / RS / 1714." The Webb(e)s appear to have been important goldsmiths in the area, members of the family being recorded in both Winchester and Southampton. Jackson's (1989) lists both a William Webb Sr. and William Webb Jr. and the earliest mentions of 1683. This mark was originally recorded in Flynt and Fales as that of William Ward (1678-1768) of Wallingford, Connecticut. However, there are a number of examples of the work of the William Webbs with this mark sold primarily by English dealers. Also see HD 75.498.
