Description:
Silver tablespoon marked "TR" and "M" in rectangles, which is attributed to Thomas Richards of NYC, and engraved with the initials "RC" in script on the front of the handle and "A219" scratched on the back of the handle. Richards was a silversmith and watchmaker who was in a number of partnerhsips: with Daniel Van Voorhis from 1798-1802 first as Van Voorhis & Son and then Van Voorhis & Richards; with John Sayre as Sayre & Richards from 1802-1813; with John Foster as Foster & Richards in 1815; with William Smith Pelletreau as Pelletreau & Richards circa 1825; and with William C. Morrell as Richards & Morrell from 1827-1830.
