Description: Rectangular casket-shaped veneered wooden tea chest decorated with inlay, and with two brass lions' head carrying handles (rings) and four brass ball and claw feet. The interior has two locked, removable wooden compartments with lids for tea and a center felt-lined well that contained a glass bowl (missing) for mixing tea. The interior of the hinged lid is painted red, and the exterior painted black. The base is lined with felt. According to the donor, a Stebbins descendent, the box descended in the Stebbins family although it is not known when it was acquired or by which branch of the family.
