Description: Needlework sampler done in silk embroidery on unbleached, plain-woven inen with the initials "JJ / S" in cross stitch in a cartouche and "1815" in the lower left corner There are many characteristics of this embroidery considered Dutch, however, Dutch embroidery specialists cannot agree where this sampler was made. The sampler has the alphabet in 3 sizes randomly placed on the right side of the sampler, and a variety of decorative elements randomly placed on the left side, including a seated figure, birds, animals, potted plants, and a basket. The frame was made by Ed Gritz.
