Description: English circular pewter plate, scratched on the back "Hoyt" and the touchmarks "ROB: & THO" and "...STREE.." The maker's mark, which has been rubbed, was struck circa 1762 for Robert & Thomas Porteus of Gracechurch Street, London, successors to Richard King. This is one of five pewter plates given by Mrs. Henry King Hoyt of Deerfield (born Catherine Wells, 1805-1891) to PVMA, listed as "304. Five Pewter Plates." According to the file, it was originally owned in Deerfield.
